Rigorously perfect
It's not as instantly exciting as those big coffee table books of deconstructed typography, all that whizzy overlaid and fractured type. But this is actually useful. If the David Carson coffee table book is typography porn, this is typography "The Joy of Sex". (That analogy is supposed to make this sound good by the way...)
The definitive work for explaining typography terms and theory and a fascinating read if you're even slightly interested in what moves printed words from mediocraty to things of beauty.
After reading it you'll never look at newspapers, books, signs, or any printed text the same again.
